Liquid Systems
Grafkem designed NONTOX® liquid products to be compatible with a wide range of films and user situations. You don't have to add or modify expensive equipment to employ NONTOX® technology in your operation today.

NONTOX® Rapid Access Developer/Replenisher Concentrate
NONTOX® RADR's activity level, dilutability and replenishment rate all meet or exceed the performance standards of premium rapid-access concentrates offered by major film manufacturers. The product is a high contrast, one part, multi-dilution concentrate for all rapid-access materials processed in replenishment-type automatic film processors. Most materials are compatible including: latest generation high-contrast recording films, contacting materials and conventional camera films.
We recommend setting the replenishment rate following the film manufacturer's recommendations, then reducing the rate gradually for greater economy. A processing time of 30 seconds along with a temperature of 95ºF is a good starting point for processing parameters. If reduced activity is needed, we recommend reducing temperature rather than reducing development time. Companion fixers are ZIP FIX or nontox® concentrates. Dilution rates are determined by film type, processor size and replenishment rate. Use the following examples as a guide:

NONTOX® RA 2077 Imagesetting Developer
NONTOX® RA 2077 Imagesetting Developer is a convenient, ready-to-use developer for imagesetting and other rapid access films and papers in processors without replenishment systems.
The product exhibits excellent resistance to aerial oxidation in recirculation-type processors. So good, in fact, that when optimum processing conditions are established, its developing agents will sometimes be completely exhausted before the batch solution has the opportunity to oxidize. Resistance to oxidation, high material versatility and high throughput makes RA2077 the smart choice for small processor imagesetting applications. It is also a great choice for use with films and papers in camera processors and in manual tray developing. The companion Grafkem ready-to-use fixer product is RA 78 Rapid Access Fixer.

ZIP FIX Rapid Access Fixer Concentrate
Even before the widespread use of closed-loop silver recovery systems, Grafkem included special chemicals in ZIP FIX to maximize the quality and the yield of silver. This electrolytic technology helps make ZIP FIX one of the most efficient products for use in closed-loop systems. Customers have reported quantity reductions as high as 85%.
ZIP FIX Rapid Access Fixer Concentrate is an ammonium thiosulfate-based product designed for all rapid access applications. It combines superior electrolytic silver recovery properties with fast clearing speeds, high throughput capability, and high concentration. These important qualities along with a reasonable cost make Grafkem's ZIP FIX the best rapid fixer value today.
Dilutions range from 1:3, for the latest generation of recording films in smaller processors to 1:9, for typesetting papers processed in deep tank machines. Standard recommended dilution is 1:4 for conventional rapid access materials.
Sophisticated buffering compounds in the formulation help ensure a highly stable bath that can handle lower replenishment rates, more film throughput and developer carryover. Other compounds in the formulation aid the product's stability which helps ensure a very fast and stable clearing time

NONTOX® Rapid Access Fixer Concentrate
NONTOX® Rapid Access Fixer Concentrate is an ammonium-free formulation designed for use in installations where ammonia discharge is regulated or even banned, and expensive closed-loop silver recovery systems can't be justified. The concentrate is diluted 1:3 with water for use with most rapid access materials.
Ammonia is highly toxic to microorganisms that help septic systems and municipal sewer systems (POTWs) work. Closed-loop silver recovery systems recirculate fixer solution, and can dramatically reduce the overall volume of used solution that is eventually discharged. These systems will reduce, but not eliminate, the ammonia that is discharged. And there is another drawback -the initial cost of the equipment.
Because this product is ammonium-free, it is more environmentally sound and user-friendly. It is non-odorous and frequently can be discharged after recovering silver with inexpensive batch (metallic replacement) silver recovery equipment.
NONTOX® rapid access fixer concentrate is the obvious choice for those who are having their used fixer hauled, and/or who are contemplating expensive, high-maintenance closed-loop equipment. It is an excellent way to eliminate ammonium compounds from a facility's photo chemical waste stream.

NONTOX® Processor Cleaner & Silver Deposit Remover
This system was developed as part of Grafkem's continuing commitment to provide more environmentally sound and user-friendly products. Chromium compounds have been clearly proven to be extremely hazardous to the environment and to be dangerous to work with. As part of our on-going environmental leadership, Grafkem eliminated all chromium-containing products from our line in 1995.
NONTOX® Processor Cleaner & Silver Deposit Remover is a two-product processor cleaning system designed to replace traditional three part acid-bichromate-neutralizer cleaning products. It is highly effective at removing typical organic and inorganic compound build-up found in all processor sections. It is packaged in single-use bags designed to make 20 liters of optimum strength solution. It is a strong oxidizer and when mixed with water, liberates large amounts of oxygen.
While NONTOX® Processor Cleaner is most effective during the first 30 minutes of use, it can be left in processor sections to work overnight, and will not harm components.
Silver Deposit Remover effectively dissolves severe silver "sludge" and other compounds. One quart of concentrate makes 5 U.S. gallons of optimum-strength solution. It is suitable for use in all processor sections and is designed to complement, not replace, NONTOX® Processor cleaner.
